Experience

I am a science teacher working at an International School in Lombardy. I have experience teaching KS3 and GCSE science on both the OCR and AQA exam boards. I graduated from Durham University in 2013 with a 2:1 in BSc Biomedical Sciences (Hons). I have tutored students since qualifying as a teacher with great success. I am fully aware that students have weaknesses with different parts of the curriculum. Before tutoring begins we will evaluate what your weak points are in a free initial meeting. I will then tailor our sessions to your individual needs. This maximises the impact of the sessions and saves you money as we don`t repeat the parts you already know. Willing to travel to your home. Block and group booking discounts available. Examples of feedback: "14/03/2017 Rating: 5/5 Rating Report: Andrew has been tutoring our 14 year old son for 4 months. He is an experienced science teacher and it shows. Andrew immediately put our son at ease and kept him engaged and interested. He is well organised and professional. He very quickly assessed our son`s ability so was able to pick out weaker knowledge areas that he needed to work on. He takes a systematic and in-depth approach that our son found easy to understand and it helped build his confidence. Andrew also helped with exam technique which has contributed to our son going up 2 GCSE levels after his recent Year 10 tests." "14/06/2016 Rating: 4/5 Rating Report: Andrew has tutored my 15 year old daughter for about 4 month in Biology and Chemistry. I can highly recommend Andrew. He is very calm, my daughter liked him very much. He is always prepared for the lesson and very reliable. Good tutor."

Hobbies

Reading- During term time, I tend to stick to reading newspapers and science magazines. Although I do this for pleasure, I have found that it tends to provide me with interesting stories to use in lessons. Outside of term time I read a lot of fiction. Terry Pratchett is probably my favourite author. Podcasts and music- I spend a lot of time in the car, usually commuting to and from work. I spend this time listening to music or podcasts. I tend to alternate the genre of my podcasts between science and comedy. Cricket-I recently discovered that I enjoy playing cricket with friends. However, I am far from expert. I also try to follow cricket on television as much as possible.
